HAJJAJ BIN MUSROOQ JO'FI
*****************************
He is also one of the famous
martyrs of Kerbala. He was the Moazzin ( one who calls for prayer) of Imam
Hussain (A.S). He belonged to Koofa and was one of the companions of Hazrat
Ali (A.S). When he heard the news of Imam Hussain (A.S) leaving for Mecca
from Medina, he joined him and came to Kerbala with him. He served the
Holy Imam (A.S) and used to call for prayer five times a day. In the way
to Kerbala when the caravan of Imam (A.S) had rest at 'Qasr -e-Bani Maqatil',
Hajjaj saw the camp of Ubaidullah bin Hur Jo'fi. Hajjaj went to call him
to help the Holy Imam (A.S) but he did'nt. When the caravan of Imam (A.S)
met the soldiers of Hur, Hajjaj made the call for the noon prayer. For
these reasons he is known as 'Moazzen Hussain (A.S)'. On the day of Aashoora
Hajjaj went to the battlefield and fought. He then returned back in injured
condition, made a talk with Imam (A.S) and again went to the battlefield
and got martyred.
